Overall Opinion
- For how long have you been using it?
I had these for about 8 or 9 years.

- What thing do you like most/least about it?
That i sold them.

- Did you try many other models before getting this one?
No, or i would have got the others.

- What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Ludicrous. Yes, the bad way.

- Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice?...
Obviously not.

Why...i hear you say!
These are closed headphones, that's good, they don't leak tooo much.
But they are hot, extremely uncomfortable after a while...(painful).
And they are very bassy. There is strictly no point trying to make anything sound right with these on unless you are totally used to listening to everything on these...
They are neither clear nor detailed enough...quite frankly i went on using them because i had not others. But you can't really do anything with them. They're a reference? Oh yeah? Well so are the 7506's and they're nothing you can do with those either...

They were 750 Francs at the time (£75), ie 115 euros, would i pay that again? No way.

Overpriced and overrated. Money back, please.

Wharfedale DIAMOND 8.1A
By goodbyebluesky on 03/27/2008 at 17:30 Music is a hobby.

Characteristics
I was most motivated to buy these because I definitely had a budget to keep in mind, but I didn't want junk I'd only replace in a year or two. I purchased them specifically for use in my tiny home studio where I record guitars, bass, vocals, and program drums. I wanted a monitor that would give me good accurate feedback on what I was creating so my efforts weren't wasted later by realizing it sounds like crap on my home stereo. These are incredibly quality monitors for the price.
Sounds
These have a very wide open soundstage, excellent accuracy, and some good clean bass not normally seen in this price bracket. They really let you know if your mix is muddy or tight. Comparing these to some KRKs in the same price range, these boast slightly better (to my ears) clarity and are easier to sit in front of. So definitely, if sound quality is your priority and you want $600 sound for less than $300, get these and don't look back.
Overall Opinion
If you want a great sounding speaker on a budget, buy these - I can't imagine a better sounding speaker for the money. My money is too valuable to buy anything thats low quality in the end, regardless of what budget I'm on. I tried out as many as I could, Truths, KRKs, and M-Audio- the bad quality reviews on M-Audios were enough to keep me far far away from those. But wharfedale gets nothing but praises in the quality department. The only exception with these monitors in my opinion...... are the grilles. They are terrible, I accident broke one taking them OUT of the package. The plastic is brittle. I nhad to go ahead and take the other one off and rock 'em without grilles which is fine by me but I always like to keep gear in good shape for resale if I have to upgrade or whatnot. But I gifure if thats the biggest problem I have, then I'm still doing pretty good.

Overall Opinion
I've had these headphones for about 4 years now and they continue to be my go to headphones. Not only do they do a great job of isolation, they also have a great sound quality. They are perfect for drummers who want to hear a click track both live and while recording. I've had a ton of drummers use them in my studio and I have heard nothing but how much they love these. They are also great for anyone recording in a studio that wants to use a nice pair of headphones. I have a few other cheaper sets of headphones and looked into buying a more expensive set (Sonys, Sennheisers), but I kept coming back to these. A few things I don't like however is the framing for them - although mine is still intact, it seems they could break pretty easily. Also, if you wear them for a long amount of time they can become uncomfortable but that really happens with all headphones for me. For this price I think you get a great deal for a very nice pair of studio headphones.

AKG K 240 Monitor

Overall Opinion
I've used these headphones for 2 years now, they are comfortable, good-looking and, more important than all, they DO sound really good. They helped me make better home studio mixes through revealing some frequencies that usually remained hidden with "usual" (non-professionnal) headphones or speakers. The impedance is very high (600 ohms) compared with most other headphones, so with the same settings the general volume will be lower on these ones than on most other headphones. They also tend to saturate early in the lower part of the sound spectrum (DeeJays, stay away! ), which may help if you have a tendency to overload your mixes with low frequencies. Listening to (and rediscovering) some old records with them can be a real pleasure too...

It is a pity this model is no longer available (it was replaced by the K 240 Studio which has a lower impedance seems to favor low frequencies and thus shall be less trustworthy for mixing purpose).
